Cook Time 45 minutes mins
- 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour gently spooned and leveled
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips for topping
In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside
In a separate larger bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
Add your egg, egg yolk and vanilla to the butter and sugar mixture and whisk until combined.
Add your flour mixture little by little to your wet ingredients and combine well with a spatula.
Once your dough is combined well, add in the 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and fold into your dough with a spatula.
Line a 9x9 inch deep baking dish with parchment paper. Press the cookie dough into the bottom of the pan until you have an even layer.
Top the cookie dough with the remaining 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips and spread evenly over the top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until the center is baked through and the top is starting to turn golden brown.
Let cool for 20-30 minutes before removing from the pan with the parchment paper. The cookies will be gooey and a little doughy until they set completely.
Once set, cut into 12-16 squares for serving.
