Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
You can't go wrong with a classic, chocolatey, gooey cookie bar. These thick, chewy cookie bars are always a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour gently spooned and leveled
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips for topping
Instructions
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside
- In a separate larger bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add your egg, egg yolk and vanilla to the butter and sugar mixture and whisk until combined.
- Add your flour mixture little by little to your wet ingredients and combine well with a spatula.
- Once your dough is combined well, add in the 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and fold into your dough with a spatula.
- Line a 9×9 inch deep baking dish with parchment paper. Press the cookie dough into the bottom of the pan until you have an even layer.
- Top the cookie dough with the remaining 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips and spread evenly over the top.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until the center is baked through and the top is starting to turn golden brown.
- Let cool for 20-30 minutes before removing from the pan with the parchment paper. The cookies will be gooey and a little doughy until they set completely.
- Once set, cut into 12-16 squares for serving.
